Trip introduction
A direct approach to the foot of the world's highest mountain - Mount Everest.
A trek designed to get you real close-up to the 'mother of all peaks' Mt. Everest, the highest peak in the world.
Mount Everest Base Camp has been a popular destination for trekkers since the very first expeditions to the Nepalese side of Everest in the 1953. To reach this part of the Himalaya within a limited time, we have devised this two week trek to Everest Base Camp which runs directly to and from Lukla.
The Everest Base Camp trek, a very well known mountain trek, starts at the upper Phakding and follows the Dudh Kosi valley which climbs up to the Sherpa capital of Namche, a bustling bazaar that is a junction for trekkers, the local Sherpa and expeditions and route to the mighty Mt. Everest. All along this part of the trail, villages are interspersed with magnificent forests of rhododendron, magnolia and giant firs. In both the early autumn and late spring, the flowers on this portion of the trek make it the kind of walk you will remember for a long, long time.

Day 03 : Flight to Lukla - trek to Phakding [2652m, 2-3hrs]
After an early morning flight (40 min flight) to Lukla (2,800m/9,186ft) and final preparations, the trekking starts. From Lukla you'll pass Chaurikharka village and make a descent towards the Dudhkosi Ghat (2,530m/8,300ft). The trail follows the bank of the Dudhkosi River until camp at Phakding (2,652m/8,700ft) is reached. To assist acclimatization, this first day is short. But if people are still interested to do some more activities they will have an opportunity to do the side trip to monastery from the hotel.

The trail crosses Dudhkoshi River over a long suspension bridge, walking through beautiful pine forest and then leads you along the river to Hilary's Suspension Bridge. Namche Bazaar is the main centre in the Solu Khumbu region and has shops, restaurants, a bakery, hotels with hot showers, a pool hall, a police checkpoint, a moneychanger, a bank and even an Internet service. Namche Bazaar and the surrounding villages have an ample supply of hydro-electricity, used for lighting and cooking as well as powering the video parlors. There is a colourful market each Saturday. There is plenty to do around Namche Bazaar and you should spend a day here acclimatizing.

The view from this spot, seen to best advantage in the morning, is absolutely mesmerizing and stunning and is rightly deemed to be one of the most magnificent in the world.
The slightly longer route from Namche Bazaar to Tengboche via Khumjung and Khunde is more interesting than the direct one. The route starts by climbing up to the Shyangboche airstrip. Above the airstrip is the Everest View Hotel, a Japanese scheme to build a deluxe hotel with great views of the highest mountains on earth.
From the hotel or the airstrip you continue to Khumjung (3790m) and then rejoin the direct trail to Tengboche.
