First Regional Committee of Nepal Tourism Year 2011 formed in The Far-western Region
Nepal Tourism Board, the Secretariat of Nepal Tourism Year 2011 (NTY 2011) extended its work in Dipayal, the Regional Headquarters of Far-western Region organizing an interaction program on 11th March 2009 with a view to form Regional Sub-Committee of NTY 2011. Mr. Hari Prasad Nepal, Regional Administrator of Far-western Region; Local Development Officers; Chief District Officers, Chairmen of Chamber of Commerce & Industry of all the nine districts in the region; representatives of regional government offices in Dipayal; local representatives from the political parties; media personnel; representatives of Community Based Organizations (CBTO): Khaptad Tourism Development Committee, Baijinath, Saileshwari and Ramarosan Development Committees, and other tourism stakeholders are actively participated at the interaction- cum- discussion program.
Following the interaction and discussion, The Far-western Regional Sub-Committee of NTY 2011 has been formed under the Convener of the Regional Administrator of Far-western Region. All nine Local Development Officers (officiated DDC Chairman) have been nominated as Joint Conveners to formulate and implement tourism programs and activities in connection with Nepal Tourism Year 2011 in the region. All Regional Offices of the Government, Municipalities, District Chamber of Commerce and Industries, Community Based Organizations, Security Agencies and Media Houses in the region are appointed as members of the Sub-Committee. Further, the Convener of the Sub-Committee may include more members in the Sub-Committee as and when required upon recommendation from the District Development Committee(s). Regional Administration Office, Dipayal shall nominate one of its officials to act as a Member Secretary to this Sub-Committee.
Similarly, district level Functional Unit in all the nine districts are also formed under the covenorship of District Development Committee/Local Development Officer of the respective district. For the public private partnership, the District Chamber of Commerce & Industry shall act as a Member Secretary to the concerned Functional Unit.
Earlier, following the announcement of "Nepal Tourism Year 2011" through the Budget Speech of Fiscal Year 2065/66, the Government has formed Nepal Tourism Year 2011 Main Organising Committee under the convener of Honorable Minister for Tourism and Civil Aviation. The Main Organising Committee has decided to form fourteen Functional Sub-Committees and five Regional Sub-Committees in order to coordinate, formulate and execute NTY 2011 plans, programs and activities for Nepal Tourism Year-2011.
Nepal Tourism Board also urged the participants to suggest programs and activities which can be carried out in partnership with the Local Bodies and Communities in the upcoming fiscal
